I have a homeowner who was in Ohio recently and said she found a roofing material that looks like a standing seam metal roof that is not made of metal. Do you know of any product there in Ohio that she may be refering to. I'm in Southern California and have not herd of or seen anything like that. Thanks Ed
Nice job Mike, I have found the sarnafil product out here and I'm looking into the fibertite now. It is what the homeowner is looking for. Thanks for the info. Ed
Now Mike, be nice. Those wrinkles, which appear in just one pic, are at a cut line and disappear very quickly.
It is fully adhered, fleeceback. Since there is no forgiveness to the fleeceback, when it's cut, what you get is what you get. I suspect they put some stress on it when cutting it.
The color was a custom color matched to a Sherwin Williams paint color chip, which was matched to a dark gray standard color Sarnafil membrane that was also part of the base bid approved products, and a Sarnafil membrane was put on the adjacent elementary school.
The battens, on this roof, are welded at the edge of the seam, and middle of the sheet. They serve no functional purpose but to look pretty.
When these jobs bid, the total bid was $1,998,000.00 for the combined project bid. We tied with the guy that did the elementary school. Ultimately the district saved $32,000.00 by taking my low bid on the HS and his low bid on the ES. That was some close bidding. The end result being a Fibertite and Sarnafil roofs side by side, same color, same application...... will be interesting to see which one ages the best.
Egg, I would have swore that you got to see a few ribs being welded. I guess that musta been Lefty. I remember well standing at the truck, hanging over the bed rails talking about the job, and you putting your analytical spin on it...... and I got lost somewhere in the depth. It was a conversation about metal roofs, metal decks, hard artificial surfaces....
I remember it well. If my memory serves me, prior to laying it up you put an epdm layer on that job for them as a temporary cover. I remember the masonry connections and the curving valleys and the good company giving me the tour. The crew wasn't working on it that day or I would remember even more. Maybe next time I'll get to see them in action.
wow..nice looking job...I've never seen that kind of roof before.

There are lots of metal roof manufactures that warrant their products on the beach...they have to be aluminum though.
BUZZBOX ............... dang, there's a name from the past. How they heck are ya?
SoCal,
Here's a profile link to a project we did with Fibertite. Just one not-so-good pic, and I don't have any posted online just yet. Egg was on the roof, I believe just as we were starting to weld ribs. I believe it was about 1200 sq. of rib profile with another 400 sq of flat.

If you have Fibertite in your market they also have a similar product
I think DOW (J/M) is offering this profile now also.

Thanks dennis and Vaa this looks like what she is looking for. She is right off the beach and the metal manufactures will not warrent the metal roof because of the salt air.
Well, I'm no Mike Hicks, but I am from Ohio.
Look up Flag-Soprema PVC, they have an accessory standing seam profile that is welded to the sheet for a standing seam look.
