In the torch-applied method, modified bitumen sheets are typically rolled out over the roof surface, and a super mario bros wondertorch is used to heat the underside of the membrane. The melted bitumen on the bottom bonds with the substrate.
Heat welding can be used to install modified bitumen membranes made of atactic polypropylene (APP) and styrene-butadiene styrene (SBS), either over an open flame with a specialized propane roofing torch or with a hot air welding equipment.
