With the current LEED V4.1 model, can metal siding contribute more points than were eligible in previous LEED versions?

Yes, the current one has more categories for LEED point accumulation.

According to AEP Span;

Yes. Previous LEED requirements only allowed points for recycled content (2 points), heat island (1 point roof only) and Regional Material (Sourced within 500 miles of the project). Current LEED V4.1 has more categories for LEED point accumulation. New categories include Energy and Atmosphere (1-6 points), Materials and Resources (up to 14 points based on category compliance) and Indoor Environmental Quality (1-3 points). Walls are still not eligible for Heat Island Effect credits. However, we feel that once CRRC established a rating system this will change. You can learn more on AEP Span’s sustainability webpage.
