It's time to freshen up the RCS. Don't worry I will never touch the Forum again. But times are changing and what worked before isn't working anymore.
I have a dream to turn the RoofersCoffeeShop into more of a personal home page where you log on everyday and use it as your own personal work dashboard.
It will be customizable to you personally. I know we can easily use the links and shortcuts across the top of our browser but if we had it all on one page with a note that someone just posted a new Forum topic or piece of interesting news would that work?
I envision a kind of ticker tape of roofing related news, with quick links your social apps, to maps, weather, real estate data, roof visualizer, favorite wholesalers, order tools, estimating software, measurement reports, etc. we can make the site work mobile on your phone or pad.
If I didn't have advertisers I would have to charge a subscription fee ($50 a year or something and I would throw in free classifieds).
Hate it?
Have Merit?
Suggestions?
It would be nice to read this on a phone. I was driving across the country this weekend and tried to read the forum on my phone and it was to much trouble with all the scrolling from side to side.
What's an app? I already have a dashboard in my truck . . . can't see it for all the paper and tools . . .

OK, I understand. I just worry that if I don't change and offer something new that the RCS will be polaroid or encyclopedia britannica or something.
I wouldn't charge anyone to EVER use the Forum just all the custom stuff.
I will go back to the drawing board.
I only have to relog in my password it I move my computer away from my wireless. I'll make a note to Steve.
Thanks for all your help!
I'm not up to speed on apps and use a now-nearly-antiquated browser with an extensive index of reference sites and some quick keys to make my twice daily rounds. I would have to weigh in with the other overthehill crowd and say I don't really understand the question as it is posed or the consequences. I only just recently started texting. Wish I were more help. I do know that I get a lot of pleasure out of hanging out here with the crowd we have. Would hate to lose that.
I'd rather have ads than pay $50/year. I also think that would limit growth.
Like spudder, I've also wondered about why we have to continually enter a password. I figured it was for security, but that doesn't coincide with the plain text password box(as opposed to encrypted/hidden)
Mike: All the guys my age already know it all.
Ms Vikki, Don't get to fancy on us folks who are the over the hill gang I just wonder why I have to log in everytime I come here to get a chuckle or two. Say, if I log in the morning then I come back in the afternoon that's when it happens I have to log in again and these arthritic fingers are a hindrance lol
Don't know that I really understand your vision, Vickie.
I know for me, the RCS has been an escape from the daily. That place I go to forget the crap, and enjoy (if that's the right way to put it) the fact that everyone has the crap too.
Since the is ONLY "social media" that I actually use, I can't really relate. But I can see that the crowd here is of the over-the-hill gang. You gotta do something to attract a younger audience, but how you do that... ??? I'm clueless.
