Finding a really good Accountant

Is there a best way to find an accountant that focuses on mainly construction industry clients or is this just a trial and error process to find a really good one? We have had a couple different ones the past few years, but the ones we have had do not seem to be really good at tax planning, especially industry specific strategies.
