Cedar shingles are the smooth resawn ones that look like big shims. Shakes are the larger heavier pieces that have smooth backs and a rough top surface.
It's not something you run into a lot but hopefully we can get it done. I have a crew in the Birmingham area that does a good job on shingle roofs, but thats mostly all we do.
I havent installed one since I was a teenager, and I cant think of anyone off the top of my head who would be able to.
I tore off a few cedar shake houses a few years back over near Inverness Country Club, and the houses were less than 10 years old at the time, but I do not who put on the original roofs.
Good luck, the way I go through roofers here in Birmingham, most of the good craftsmen either work for themselves, retired, or died. :dry:
