What programs are you using for takeoffs on satellite images such as google earth and pictometry ....>>>
Jed - I just picked up the image from a link I looked at yesterday. Some guy from Ill. that was on their most wanted list I think.
JoeRoofer - I've seen ads for the service where they measure roofs from aerial photo's or from satellites images. I incorrectly assumed that's what you were referring too.
In my county, we can access the county tax appraisers website which has among other things, aerial photographs of every building. Also, we occasionally lift a picture of the front of the building from Google Street View. This info is collected and added to the "Ticket" prepared for the estimators which also includes the value of the house, list of previous building permits issued on the property in the past 10 years, sales history, legal description of the property, and most importantly, the legal owner of the property with their correct mailing address.

Roof Doc .... Never said no site inspection - so lets clear that up .... perhaps my question was not phrased correctly ....
We are looking at doing "pre-take-offs" with Pictometry and then taking the info with when we visit the site .... big time saver as I've always sketched out my roofs - but with Pictometry we save time / money ......>>>
....roger that, no site inspection, no bid.
..........Hey Doc, wherejou get yer ink?>>>
I don't do take offs from satellites. We use AutoCAD.>>>
