Time to upgrade my old Verimat and Variant welders. What is good out there today? Have heard good things from the Leister folks about the V2 but big price tag. Any feedback on the BAK product: Laron?
I got no experience with them Mel. What you say sounds good.... but so did all the other medicine we swallowed prior to deciding to stick solely with Leister. With the stranglehold Leister has on the industry, and the reputation they have, competitors have two options: 1. Better 2. Cheaper
It's pretty rare that someone accomplishes both, but maybe it's worth a roll of the dice.

We've used Leister for years. Our Rep/Dealer was in the Kent area. We had to purchase from them because we were in their territory and Leister puts the cuffs on their dealers not letting them ship into another area. Then Leister let someone else take over our territory. We already had a good relationship with the folks in Kent so we continued to purchase from them but all we have purchased since they became BAK dealer is hand welders. We haven't purchased a "robot" in several years.
From what I understand, the Bak Laron was designed by the same engineer that designed the Varimat. Fewer circuit boards and supposed to be easier to service. From what I understand, if a board in the V2 goes they all have to be replaced. If one goes in the Bak, you just replace the one that is bad.
I like the sounds of their product, just looking for some feedback since i have no experience with the Laron.
