I am a licensed roofer/general contractor of 23 years in Kansas. My ICBO certification was so long ago that it's not recognized by Colorado. I am taking the ICC national standard roofing contractor test so I can be licensed to do a few jobs in Colorado Springs. Anyone have any practice info on this test? I am confident I can pass it with using the 2009 IBC book but there's always the what if? Any advice would be great also! It's been over 2 decades since I had to do this stuff I'm probably a little rusty. Thanks!
Passed the national standard Roofing test! Haha! The part that sucked is there is prob 10 questions from the ICC plumbing book I've never used in 25 years but passed it on common roofing sense. They won't list the percentage, but I think I got 80-90%. Thank god been doing it right long enough I better pass! Now my little company is licensed in Kansas and Colorado. Have a couple to do in Colo Springs in the spring. Mini vacation to my old home town while I work! Everyone take care and be careful up there! Thanks Grumpy!
Most likely contact the testing body and ask, they will probably have a list of recommended study materials. Usually their tests are based on these study materials. It's not often a roofer makes a roofing test, it's usually people who don't know squat about roofing.
Thanks Spudder will do and I appreciate the response! It should be fine just getting nervous haven't had to test in 2 decades! Haha
Hey Dustin, over the years I have been licensed in over 9 states, the hardness test being Florida, most of the others were a piece of cake, just study as much as you can and remember that most of the testors are not roofers the basics of roofing will probably be there but I sure that they will have questions on business practices, workmans comp and other things that we take for granted, just remember study as much as you can, mark your books if you can use them most of the states that I took were all open book, the last one that I took was in 2005 in the State of Virginia I ended up as a general contractor able to do just about everything in the construction field except plumbing and electrical I wish you luck and just remember study and don't worry
