LTC Quality Plus D90 - Synthetic Underlayment

Our branded product LTC Quality Plus® D90 Synthetic Underlayment, has passed the new
testing standard for synthetic roofing underlayment, which is ASTM D8257. The new standard was developed recently and is tailored specifically for synthetic underlayment. Some of the testing includes 500 hours of simulated weathering, temperature resistance, UV resistance and water resistance.

Historically, synthetic underlayment was made code-compliant under ASTM D226 I & II.
This standard was developed for felt tar paper roofing materials. When synthetics entered the market, the only test they had was ASTM D226. The test essentially determined the tear strength of the product. As synthetic doesn’t tear, almost every synthetic product passed the D226 standard with no issue. The industry realized that this standard wasn’t actually compliant
with synthetic materials, as a result they created ASTM D8257.
