Black and grey shingles are two of the most popular colors for roofs.

Both colors can add depth and interest to your home. Available in a variety of shades and tones, black and grey shingles can match an array of siding, trim, brick, and stone; making them the ideal choices for many homes.

Black Shingle Colors Malarkey Black Oak shingles enhances a variety of siding, brick, and stone colors. The different shades of black, grey, and red blended together provide a nice alternative to black shingles. The slight variation in color tones in the shingles also pairs well with the light and dark variation within the bricks. The red offers a subtle pop of color that makes Black Oak a very popular choice.

Monochromatic shades of black offer richness and depth to Malarkey’s Midnight Black shingles. With lasting curb appeal, Midnight Black is a great choice for all types of brick or siding options. Midnight Black is a popular color in almost every region throughout the country. From vibrant to neutral brick or stone siding choices, Midnight Black is always a great option.

Even the darkest, black roof isn’t a solid flat color. Architectural shingles like the Windsor® in Midnight Black, provide and enhanced profile and curb appeal to the roof. This stucco home chose a dark roof to contrast the light-colored walls. The shingles add plenty of depth and texture to the property, against the flat walls and simple design.

Grey Shingle Colors Grey shingles are a cool, neutral tone that can accent almost any siding style or color. Malarkey’s Strom Grey shingle is a blend of several different shades and tones of grey.  Grey is a becoming alternative to darker shingles tone while still eluding to a dark color. Your roof will stand out with the various grey tones of color while enhancing your home.

This field stone-covered home chose a shingle to complement the natural color and texture of the façade. These Storm Grey shingles mimic old slate roofs that would have once been used in conjunction with this type of veneer. The color of the roof blends with the mortar used between the stones, but contrasts the stone color. The result gives the home character, and avoids a too bland appearance.

Grey has a variety of shades and Malarkey’s Silverwood shingle color is another option for grey shingles. In this example, The Alaskan® Silverwood shingles add just a hint of dimension and texture to the roof. Overall, the color of the roof remains is muted, allowing it to blend in well with the rest of the property, but there’s still a lot of variation in the blend of color preventing it from appearing too flat.

Frosted Granite is a grey solar reflective shingle. An excellent option in climates needing to reflect UV rays while wanting to use a different color than white shingles. The Ecoasis™ Costa Frosted Granite roof, compliments a variety of siding colors. The shingles have enough color variation to create visual interest when paired with muted siding color tones, as well as the ability to avoid clashing with rich or bolder siding choices.

Consider Black and Grey Shingles Black and grey shingles are a good option for almost any home. Whether you want to make a dynamic statement with black shingles or looking for neutral alternative with grey, you can find a shingle option that will help you accomplish a finished product you are happy with while enhancing your home’s curb appeal at the same time.
