The SOPREMA Scholarship was founded to assist students pursuing a degree in architecture, engineering, construction management.

SOPREMA, Inc., a leading manufacturer of roofing, waterproofing, wall protection and civil engineering solutions, has awarded five current and committed college students with scholarships as part of the company’s annual award program. The SOPREMA Scholarship was founded to assist students pursuing a degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or similar fields at accredited four-year colleges or universities. The winners will each receive a $5,000 award to assist with their studies.

This year’s recipients of the SOPREMA Scholarship include:

Nicholas Cicio, of Mayfield, Pennsylvania, who attends Temple University in Philadelphia and is studying architecture. He recently served as Treasurer for his local American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) chapter and was also an Ambassador Against Drugs. He enjoys photography and design in his free time.

Mariah Gresko, of Phoenix, Arizona, who is studying architecture at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. After completing her first degree from Arizona State University, Summa Cum Laude, she participated in the 2017 AIA AAH STERIS Student Design Charrette, which is performed each year at the Healthcare Design Conference in order to foster and guide students into healthcare architecture. In addition to her love of design, she is an accomplished pianist of 15 years.

Thomas King, of Knoxville, Tennessee, who will be a senior at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, in the 2018-2019 school year. He was involved in research for VA Tech’s art department, participated in a nomadic study abroad program and will be attending an architecture program in Fontainebleau, France, this summer. He is also a recipient of the VA Tech CAUS Fontainebleau Scholarship. His hobbies include playing the piano, hiking and learning to watercolor.

Tyler Kleinsasser, of Huron, South Dakota, who will be in his final year at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. While pursuing a degree in civil engineering and construction management, he has achieved the Dean’s List and passed the critical Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam required to become a licensed engineer. In his free time, he enjoys Skynamics (aerial filming) and the Ultimate Frisbee Club.

Molly Nelson, of The Dalles, Oregon, who will be a sophomore at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities studying chemical engineering in the 2018-2019 school year. Nelson is active in Saint Paul’s Outreach program, Born Passion nonprofit organization, and Catholic Students United. In addition to recently achieving the Dean’s List, she is also a DJ at Radio K.

“We applaud the five winners of this year’s scholarships and are pleased to be able to support their drive to positively influence our industry,” said Sara Jonas, marketing manager, SOPREMA. “As we distribute this year’s awards, we will soon open the program for next year’s applicants. The application link found on the scholarship page of our website (https://soprema.us/soprema-scholarship-program) will be reset with a new 2019-2020 academic year submission deadline to be announced soon. We look forward to continuing to enable students to pursue their passions moving forward.”
