Why Your Contracting Company Should Offer Siding Services

Quarrix Wall Protection Services
February 16, 2022 at 6:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

Learn from Nick Nobbe about how your roofing company can use Wall Protection products to expand your business offerings.

In Season 4, Episode 2 of Roofing Road Trips, Heidi J. Ellsworth talked with Nick Nobbe, senior product manager at Quarrix, about how your roofing company can benefit from offering siding services. Nick also goes into depth about Quarrix’s innovative Wall Protection products which are equipped with rainscreen technology.

Contractors are well aware of the material shortages the industry is facing. “When you’re pigeonholed to one specific thing, and all of a sudden the supply of shingles drops, then you might not even have enough materials to complete jobs,” Nick said. He heard that a lot of contracting companies were still doing well though because they are offering other services, such as siding.

For contractors who want to offer siding services or already are, Quarrix’s line of Wall Protection products are great to use because they are specifically designed to keep moisture out. Their ProTect Furring Strips and ProTect Drain Mat are made with rainscreen technology which prevents moisture damage in two ways: By providing a drainage plane for moisture to get out and a channel of airflow to dry out any excess raw moisture.

Nick says that this rainscreen design “helps to keep all those materials healthy and reach the end of their usable lives versus degrading earlier.” He also mentions that the air gap acts as a barrier against UV rays which in turn helps with heating and cooling the home.

He also recommends that contractors do research as some jurisdictions and manufacturers require a rainscreen be installed in siding projects. “A lot of the siding manufacturers are requiring it now in many instances to help prevent any premature deterioration of their product,” Nick said.
