Here are the considerations you should be making regarding the best time to purchase a portable rollforming machine. 

Although the price of a portable rollforming machine is one of the top considerations you’ll be making before purchasing one, you should also be thinking about when the best time to get a machine is. You could be on a job or in a situation where you need a portable rollforming machine and don’t have one. You could also purchase a machine when demand is too high, and you have to wait for it longer than you want.

1. Thoroughly research the machines you want to buy. This includes researching manufacturers in your area, additional equipment and accessories, pricing and warranties. 

2. Evaluate your metal roofing business. Double check your company’s budget to see what you can afford or how you’re going to pay for the machine. You also want to evaluate your current business needs and how a machine like a portable rollformer fits in. 

3. Ask the machine manufacturer any lingering questions. To better understand different manufacturers, you could ask how long they’ve been in business, what customers say about their products, what the potential lead time could be, etc. 

Once you’ve figured out what you want to buy, now you can start considering when to make the purchase. One of the best times to buy a portable rollforming machine is at trade shows. Trade shows, such as the International Roofing Expo or METALCON, are great places to actually see the machine you’re looking to buy. It also gives you a chance to speak to the manufacturer directly about the product and you can talk to other roofers at the trade show who have used the product. 

Another great time to get a portable rollforming machine is during the slower months of the year. If you end up making your purchase during the busy summer season, you’ll likely be waiting a very long time to get the equipment you need. But by purchasing a machine during the off-season, you’ll get ahead of your competition and grow your business faster.
