Welcome to the Spotlight on Weatherproofing Technologies Blog!

AUG -Guest Blog - WTI - Welcome to the Spotlight on Weatherproofing Technologies Blog
August 2, 2018 at 6:18 a.m.

By WTI.

Meet the WTI bloggers, Lisa Garcia and Maureen Greeves.

We hope you caught our first blog published on Roofers Coffee Shop that discussed what WTI is and a bit about the culture we’ve developed over time. This month’s blog is an introduction to your blogists! I am Lisa Garcia and my co-author is Maureen Greeves. Together we will be writing to you monthly about some of the exciting things happening around WTI.

It is hard to say which moment or event brought on the AHA moment.  The specific day that I realized that, all I know is from that day forward it shaped how I viewed WTI.   Let me say that working at WTI has been the most challenging and the most rewarding career I have had to date.

One moment that shaped my perspective was in 2009 when I received my OSHA 10 training.  Many of our WTI technicians are OSHA certified trainers.  This allows the team to deliver the 10-hour OSHA training with a focus on “where we live” – the roof!  I came away with my certification, a new awareness and a respect for the field that continues to drive my approach to new solutions and processes for the WTI team.

During my nine-year career with WTI, I’ve been able to build some strong relationships.  With WTI located across all 50 states we excel in creating an atmosphere that is truly a home away from home.  It feels like family!  We are accountable to and for each other.

I also work directly with a fantastic group of office support folks.  People driven to deliver solutions to an ever increasingly challenging field service market.  These are people dedicated to seeking out new solutions and bringing innovation to the roofing and service business.

I have sat in meetings with some of the brightest!  Our management group promotes learning and fosters those who are willing to “take it on” whatever the “it’ is!  WTI challenges your perspective on what you might think a roofing and/or service company looks like.  If you are motivated to work hard and are seeking a place to call home; look no further than WTI.

My hope is that Lisa and I create the stories and capture the feelings in our monthly blogs that might just drive you to your AHA moment and consider WTI for your next career opportunity. My family and I live right on Lake Erie, on the West Side of Cleveland (the opposite of Lisa!). When we are not at a fastpitch tournament you will find us standup paddle boarding on the lake!

I have worked for WTI since 2004, starting out doing data entry for our online roofing inspection database. Through the years I have worked my way up, eventually becoming the supervisor of that department and then moving on to a completely new role working with technology development.

Before I was given this new role, I worked with many people who took the time to teach me new things, mentor me and take the time to answer all my incessant questions! In 2009, I started becoming interested in how we could eliminate paper from our inspections and capture the inspection data electronically. This started me on my path towards technology.

By 2010, we began the implementation of our new electronic data gathering program and by 2013 we had eliminated all paper inspections in the department. Since then, I was able to work with several other teams on new technology to help eliminate paper from other areas in the company. In 2017, I took this on full-time. I no longer supervise that department where I got my start, leaving was very bittersweet but I love taking on the new challenges that are thrown my way every day while developing and implementing new technology in various parts of the company.

Working here has given me so many opportunities to learn and grow and I look forward to seeing what comes next! On a personal side, I have two children, Alexandria is 15 going on 25 and Jacob is 10 and is pretty much the bane of his sister’s existence! We love animals and traveling whenever and wherever we can. My kids and I live right on Lake Erie, east of Cleveland, Ohio, just a 25-minute drive from the office. ?

WTI is always looking for great people to join our team. Please visit our Career Center to search open positions!
