Almost 100 years ago, in 1918, a unique barn was built in southwestern Idaho in the Treasure Valley near the town of Emmett. It has served many purposes throughout the years and today it sits on the property of Fourth Street Gardens, a popular wedding venue.
When it became time to replace the historic barn’s roof, the owners selected Rooftops Energy Solutions, based in Boise. The project used 28 squares of Vista™ shingle which uses Malarkey’s patented Zone® technology to increase the size of the nailing area. Additionally, the Vista™ is manufactured with Nexgen™ polymer modified asphalt made from quality, reclaimed polymers. Because of the polymer modified asphalt, the Vista™ shingle protects against harsh weather conditions and has superior granule retention strength. Vista is also available with algae resistant granules that are engineered to prevent mold growth and black streaks commonly seen on roofs in humid areas.
Most of the barn’s roof is 8:12 pitch but 30 percent is at a 24:12 pitch. Rooftops Energy Solutions crew was able to complete the tear off in two days and the installation was completed by two installers and two framers in just three days.
The result is a rejuvenated barn that will serve as a beautiful wedding backdrop for years to come.
