A view from within at WTI: Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. offers a culture of family

By Lisa Garcia, WTI Technology.

RoofersCoffeeShop® recently asked WTI to share some insights into their company and culture.  Lisa Garcia shares the people side of this leading roofing company.

Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. (WTI) is a subsidiary of Tremco Incorporated that provides roofing repair and maintenance services, asset management programs and general contracting. We have approximately 750 employees across the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico with a wide range of positions and employment opportunities. WTI and Tremco specializes in keeping roofs leak free and extending their life. In addition, our General Contracting Group can provide owners with that single point of responsibility for specifications, bidding, contractor selection, pre-construction and project management of a roofing restoration or replacement project.

An amazing group of men and women make up WTI both internally and in the field. From construction managers to roof inspectors to the support staff, we work together to make sure we are providing the best products and services to our customers. There are many employees who have been with WTI for over 15 years, some for over 20 and handful that have been here for 25+ years! The culture we have in WTI has created a work environment that makes people want to stay.

For many of us, WTI is our second family. When natural disasters struck recently in the southern part of the country, WTI employees from all over banded together to raise money for those who lost everything as well as sending crews down to help with clean-up efforts. When there is a death in someone’s family, an illness, or an emergency, WTI is always first to offer support, send a meal or just show up when needed. We are not just looked at as employees or spaces on an org chart.

At WTI, it is understood that we are also mothers, fathers, children and siblings and sometimes that requires flexibility and understanding. Recently, one of our administrative departments shut down completely for an afternoon to go to a memorial service for a co-worker’s father who passed away. Tracy Jackson’s father had been fighting bravely against illness for a long time with Tracy and her family by his side supporting him until the end. When her entire department came to the memorial service she said, “That really meant the world to me.” She went on to say “It’s things like that, the family atmosphere, that makes coming to work enjoyable. Heck, people at Tremco/WTI are even closer than family sometimes!” That is what families do and WTI is a family.

“There is opportunity throughout this company if you put in the effort to become something,” says Rick Reeves, one of our Field Service Supervisors in North Carolina. Rick has been with WTI since 2004 and by working hard has moved up through the ranks to running his own crews. WTI likes to promote employees from within.  Mentoring, training, and educating people to cultivate the desire and drive to succeed. Rick also notes that he has been in the roofing industry all his life, 30+ years, he says “this is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had in my life, I have also worked for some really, really good roofing contractors, still out of all the opportunities that I have had in my life, this is still one of the best.”

WTI is always looking for great people to join our team. Please visit our Career Center to search open positions!
