Megan Ellsworth: Hello everyone. My name is Megan Ellsworth here at RoofersCoffeeShop.com, and I am back again with a Roofer of the Month podcast. I am so excited to have Greg here. Hi, Greg, how are you?
Greg Serevetas: Hello Megan, how are you? I'm good.
Megan Ellsworth: Doing good. Greg is with USA General Contractors Corp., and he is the Roofer of the Month for July 2024. Super excited to hear your story, Greg. So let's just dive right in and have you introduce yourself and your company.
Greg Serevetas: Thank you for having me, Megan, and thank you for the honor of Roofer of the Month. Appreciate it very much.
Greg Serevetas: Hello everybody. My name is Gregory Serevetas. I am the Vice President at USA General Contractors. I am the second generation at USA. My family started the company in 1993, so this is our 31st year in business.
Megan Ellsworth: Oh my gosh, congrats. Third decade. That's awesome.
Greg Serevetas: Yep, we made it.
Megan Ellsworth: You made it, whoo. What type of services does USA provide, and what would you say is your specialty?
Greg Serevetas: Well, our main service is roofing and waterproofing, both replacement and repairs, so that would be our specialty and we do a few other things. We have started doing line striping in parking lots and asphalt coating. We do masonry repair, and we also recently received our roll-off hauling dumpster license, so we also offer roll-off dumpster services in the state of New Jersey. It's not easy to get, either.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah. Wow, that's awesome. A great added service. Amazing. Well, I would love to hear something that you all celebrate over at USA. What's something? It could be birthdays, holidays, company culture. What's something that you all celebrate?
Greg Serevetas: Yeah, actually, you mentioned birthdays. We actually do celebrate our employees' birthdays, with singing, of course, which I'm not a big fan singing happy birthday song. I feel like that's for children, not adults, but that's what we do and we also get a cake from our local ice cream shop. So it's the same place every time, we love it and it feels like we're always eating cake around here.
Megan Ellsworth: That's nice. It's a nice feeling.
Greg Serevetas: Yeah, everybody really enjoys it.
Megan Ellsworth: Sweet, literally. How do you define superior customer service?
Greg Serevetas: Superior customer service? Well, that to us means always going above and beyond for our clients, of course and putting their needs first, but never at our expense. And then we value our relationships with our clients and always tell them the truth, even if it is at our expense. If we did make a mistake, we'll correct it and we stand by it.
Megan Ellsworth: Amazing. Yeah, that's the way to do it. That's the right way to do it. It keeps people coming back, like you said, for repairs and all sorts of stuff.
Greg Serevetas: Yeah, nobody's perfect, everybody makes mistakes and we try our best, but we never turn away from anything that we've done. We stand by it.
Megan Ellsworth: Going off of that, why should homeowners work with USA?
Greg Serevetas: So yeah, that's... Part of that would be, yeah, because of our focus on our customers, but we are unique in our commitment to the customer and unparalleled communication. We're very good at communicating with the customers, when we're going to be there, when we leave, what we find, so we have a team that really stays in contact with the customer. And we're true to our word. We always stand behind our work, like I said. Every employee at USA also abides by our six core values. We own the EOS system as well, so our six core values are accountable, humble, hungry, client-focused, teamwork and adaptive.
Megan Ellsworth: Nice. Those are such important qualities.
Greg Serevetas: Yeah, they are, and we feel that... We took over six months to come up with those core values, and really just narrowed them down and say, "Look, this is what our core is, literally our core we want to be and this is what we're going to enforce and abide by," and yeah, it's working out great. Everybody really loves it and feels the culture is much improved with the core value system.
Greg Serevetas: And then we also are... Our response time is also pretty exceptional for emergencies and service work, so pretty proud of that as well.
Megan Ellsworth: That's awesome. That's great. So last two questions here. They're flying by. Why are you an R-Club member?
Greg Serevetas: Why am I an R-Club member? Well, you guys are great, obviously, but it is the best way to be in the know for all things roofing. You guys have your hand in everything, to be honest. You're all over the place. It's amazing what you guys do. Your podcast, peer forums, coffee breaks, they're all great, very informative and it's also a great way to meet new people in the industry and learn from each other. I love the new Peer Forum. The new Peer Forum is phenomenal.
Megan Ellsworth: That's awesome. I'm so glad.
Greg Serevetas: Yes. And I got my mug too, that's another reason I'm a member. You guys gave me a nice green mug.
Megan Ellsworth: Yay. That's fabulous. I'm so glad you're representing. Okay, last question, and this is always my favorite, but what would be your walk-up song? You're walking out onto a sports field, you're feeling hyped. What's the song playing?
Greg Serevetas: I went with Rick Derringer's Real American. I grew up watching Hulk Hogan on TV, and the song didn't mean to me then what it does today, but it is a classic and I think anyone in my era would really appreciate it.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah, absolutely. That's a great one. That's a great walk-up song.
Megan Ellsworth: Well, Greg, thank you so much and congratulations on being July 2024's Roofer of the Month for the R-Club. We love having you here and you guys are doing great work over at USA and so congratulations.
Greg Serevetas: Thank you so much, Megan. It really is an honor, and I appreciate everything you guys do as well.
Megan Ellsworth: Yay, amazing. Well, everyone out there listening, go check out USA General Contracting's directory on RoofersCoffeeShop.com and learn more about them. If you're in the New Jersey area, you know who to call if you need a repair or replacement roof and have a great day and congratulations again, Greg.
Greg Serevetas: Thank you so much, Megan. You too. Have a great day.
