The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) recently released an updated version of their NRCA Guidelines for the Application of Roofing Coatings. The original guidelines were written in 2015 and the new and reorganized version features new terms, step-by-step information and more.
These guidelines are designed to provide roofing contractors, designers and installers with crucial information about the application of a variety roof coating systems. The guidelines inform readers of necessary preparations that will improve the success of the performance and quality of the roof coating, especially for an on-site evaluation. The text also includes some best practices guidelines for the application of the most common types of roof coatings to the various types of roof surfaces, including membrane roof systems and existing coating systems.
In addition to more in-depth information, the guide has been reorganized to chronologically follow the order of events that most likely take place during the roof coating process. The guide also includes modified, added or removed terms and definitions to more closely capture the wide scope of roof coatings and their currently available applications. For some quality control and quality assurance procedures, NRCA added additional step-by-step guidance to the text.
If you are involved with the roof coating design and/or installation process, these guidelines were written for you! Hard copies of NRCA Guidelines for the Application of Roof Coatings are available to purchase at NRCA’s Bookstore. NRCA members can also download the guide in an electronic format.
