Trent Cotney Named General Counsel to National Slate Association

Trent Cotney of Cotney Construction Law, LLP was recently named General Counsel of the National Slate Association (NSA).

As General Counsel, Cotney will provide legal assistance to the association’s board of directors with regard to the organizational structure, bylaws, operations, and governance policies.

The National Slate Association is a non-profit organization that promotes excellence through the development and dissemination of technical information, standards, and educational resources for the slate industry. “Working with NSA is a great opportunity for our firm to collaborate with a group of individuals who are dedicated to improving and promoting their work,” said Trent Cotney.

Cotney’s practice area encompass both commercial and construction litigation in addition to various transactional matters. The National Slate Association (NSA) was first established in 1922 by slate quarriers. The goal was to promote the use of slate for roofing and structural applications. The standards set for slate and its installation are still adhered to today. In 2002, the National Slate Association was re-established as a non-profit, interdisciplinary, membership organization.
