Tremco Finds Safety Solutions for Carter Machinery

Tremco Safety Solutions
December 30, 2022 at 6:00 a.m.

By Cass Jacoby.

Tremco starts off customer relationship strong by finding a safety solution that checks all of the boxes.

Safety is the cornerstone of Tremco’s business, which is clearly reflected through their culture that strives to put employee safety first. From industry leading safety products and services to robust safety practices, Tremco WTI lives its motto of leading with safety. This same commitment is extended to their customers as they help them find solutions and training needed to make the roof as safe as possible.

Safety was the key consideration when sales representative in Tremco Roofing’s South Atlantic Region Jim Burichin developed a relationship with new customer Carter Machinery (Mechanicsville, Virginia. The company’s HVAC system was difficult to access, leading to damage from employees standing on the duct work and, above all, put employees potential fall hazard greater than four feet when employees serviced it.

Hearing about this, Jim reached out to Josh Bonardi, the regional Safety Solutions Representative (SSR), to find a safety solution for accessing the HVAC unit. “Through Josh’s experience, we were able to come up with an engineered platform that allows easy and safe access for my customer,” Jim says in a project profile.

The solution? A custom platform made of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) from a sister company, Fibergrate. Further, Josh and Jim enlisted the services of engineering partners LJB to make sure that the new platform design was structurally sound and the best solution for the issue.

LJB collaborated with Fibergrate on the designs in order to build a fully compliant platform. WTI installed the platform in two days at a cost of $18,000 for the full turn-key operation. “We appreciate being part of the solution for customers to keep their employees safe,” stated Rebecca Welsh, WTI Regional Business Manager, South Atlantic Region in a project profile.
