Titan XT® Shingles receive Class 3 impact rating

TAMKO Titan XT® Shingles receive Class 3 impact rating
July 15, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

By Cayden Wemple.

With their Class 3 Impact Rating, innovative features and potential insurance premium discounts, Titan XT shingles are a great choice for roof protection.

The Titan XT shingles from TAMKO have raised the bar for roofing products with the introduction of a new Class 3 Impact Rating, classified by the Underwriters Laboratories according to UL 2218 testing and certification.

The Class 3 Impact Rating means that Titan XT shingles can withstand impact from a steel ball up to 1.75 inches in diameter . This is a crucial benefit for property owners in areas prone to severe weather events, where hail can cause significant damage to roofs and other exterior structures. With this rating, Titan XT shingles can help protect properties against damage, potentially saving property owners from costly repairs and replacements.

Titan XT shingles' innovative features include the AnchorLock layer proprietary nailing zone reinforcement, Advanced Fusion family of aggressive modified sealants, UltraMAX Weathering layer of carefully curated asphalt coating, WindGUARD™ 160 MPH wind warranty and Rapid-Fire Zone® expanded nailing zone. These features are designed to provide durability and long-lasting performance in extreme weather conditions.

In a demo video, Titan XT blew the competition away with its performance in a simulated wind test with a hand-held leaf blower which was capable of air pressure over 230 mph. As the blower targeted four brands of shingles, the Titan XT shingles were the only ones that withstood the test. Even when the Titan XT shingles are not nailed down, they still withstood a simulated test of over 175 mph.

Not only does this shingle benefit contractors, but property owners with Titan XT shingles may qualify for insurance premium discounts due to the Class 3 Impact Rating. This is because the shingles are designed to provide added protection against damage, reducing the risk of costly claims for insurance providers.

Titan XT shingles have established themselves as a leading roofing product with their innovative features and now the Class 3 Impact Rating. These shingles offer contractors and property owners enhanced durability and long-lasting performance, even in the face of extreme weather events.
