S-5!®, the leading company in metal roofing attachments, was proudly honored for its innovative product, the S-5! PVKIT® HUR in the METALCON People’s Choice Award for 2023. This recognition solidifies the PVKIT HUR as a groundbreaking solar mounting solution for metal roofs in the industry, particularly for its exceptional performance in high wind-prone areas.
The PVKIT HUR is a new version of the PVKIT and shows the latest advancements in solar mounting attachments for metal roofs, designed to withstand extreme wind uplift forces, including hurricane-category winds. Notably, it is the first metal roof PV mounting system to achieve certification to FM4478, which is FM Approval’s most stringent PV standard.
Rob Haddock, CEO and founder of S-5!, expressed his excitement about the award, stating, “It’s such a thrill to be recognized with this award. The PVKIT HUR and its FM Approval represent another 'first' for our company and makes metal roofing the preferred solar roof in high wind-prone geographies around the globe."
The PVKIT HUR is part of Centroplan's solar and metal roof system, combining it with the S-5-E™ standing seam clamp, JA solar modules and the Butler MR-24® standing seam roof. The product's FM 4478 Approval and its enhanced design makes it ideal for coastal communities and other high-wind prone areas.
The 6" length of the overhead grabs, coupled with a new contact surface design and angle, a robust grip on the PV module's frame, preventing release under extreme forces. Additionally, the new baseplate design enhances structural integrity of the frame, preventing the module from bending and disengaging during high wind uplift events. This recognition at METALCON underscores S-5!’s contribution to advancing solar solutions for metal roofs in challenging environmental conditions.
