Equipment pads play a vital role in roofing projects, whether they are numerous or limited in number, small or large in size. In the vibrant city of Honolulu, Park Lane Ala Moana stands as an expansive residential project, offering breathtaking ocean views. This grand construction encompasses six buildings, forming a complex that is home to a diverse array of mechanical equipment. Altogether, these structures require a total of 22,000 square feet of equipment pads, demonstrating their critical significance in this endeavor.
The project was specified to use PVC sheet membrane, but with the complexity of the design, the numerous penetrations, and the required number of equipment pads, using sheet membrane would have made the installation long and arduous. Simplifying the process and to keep within timelines the project was respecified with using a high-quality liquid applied, fully reinforced membrane system that could also award a 20-year warranty.
The Sikalastic® RoofPro 621 TC fully reinforced roofing/waterproofing system was chosen for its ease of application. As with all the RoofPro products the “no mixing required” resins are user friendly. The hot and humid beachside Hawaiian environment aided well in the moisture triggered curing component. The installing roof technicians were well experienced with reinforced liquid applied membrane systems and at many times during the installation they complimented on how easy RoofPro is to use. Even the busiest of roof tops can be made seamlessly watertight with a durable, warrantable RoofPro System.
