There’s No Such Thing as a Dumb Question

Sascho No such thing as a dumb question

By Sashco.

Sashco’s shares some of the most common questions their customer service team answers.

Sashco’s goal is to make high performance “Products that Work” and we want the service and support we offer to meet or exceed that same standard. What does that look like?

First, it means that you will talk to real people when you call or live chat with us.

Second, we are technically trained by our lab and have applied the products ourselves.

Finally, we will give the advice/support that best meets you and your customer’s needs.  If that means that we refer you to a different product, then that’s what we will do!

Check out some of the most frequently asked questions and even some of the crazier ones below:

What are the top 5 FAQs from contractors/Pros?

#1 - What kind of product is TRF? Is it a silicone?

A – TRF is a copolymer (synthetic) rubber product.  It does not contain any silicone.

#2 - What kind of prep does the surface need before application of TRF?

A – The surface should be free from dust, dirt, pollens and any loose debris and, if necessary, any previous sealants removed completely.

#3 - Can TRF be applied to a wet surface?

A – Yes!  TRF can be applied to a wet surface.  We do recommend that you tool/smooth the surface of the TRF to gently press it into good contact with the surface and displace the water beneath it.

#4 - What is the best way to apply TRF?  Can I roll it on?

A – TRF is a very sticky product, so we recommend keeping soapy water, clear 409 or mineral spirits handy to prevent it from sticking to hands or tools.  We find the foam craft brushes, available in different widths, are ideal for spreading the TRF.  Rolling is not recommended because it tends to remove more product than it lays down and you can end up working air into the surface, leaving behind lots of pin-prick bubbles.

#5 – Is TRF compatible with itself?

A – Definitely!  So, you can apply it in layers, if you are unsure at first of how it will cover or if you need to make minor repairs down the road.

What are the top 5 crazy questions we get?

#1 – Can I use TRF to seal around my sunroof on my car/truck?

A – TRF will likely adhere well in most of those applications, but it can attract dust and dirt when it gets warm.

#2 – Can I use TRF in a livestock water trough/fish pond?

A – TRF is not safe for livestock/aquatic life and has not been tested beyond 30-days in submersion.

#3 - Can I use TRF to seal brick/mortar that has micro cracks? Use to seal a chimney?

A – TRF will adhere well to brick and mortar. Check out our mortar repair caulk for a matching look: https://www.sashco.com/products/mor-flexx/

#4 – Will TRF work to seal seams/small holes in gutters?

A – Definitely!  Just be sure to clean the gutters and remove any dirt/debris as well as any previous sealants that may be in place.

#5 - Can I use TRF to glue my toupee to my head? (We were only asked this once, but it was a real question)

A – (after a long pause) No.

How are you using Sashco’s Through the Roof! product? Send your feedback to info@sashco.com.
