The role of quality tools in contracting

Malco Role of quality tools in contracting
October 31, 2024 at 6:00 a.m.

By Jessica Bravo.

A brand of tools that speaks volumes to contractors for quality and performance.

With over 75 years in the business, Malco Tools is synonymous with quality tools that empower contractors to excel in their craft. In a new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits down with Shane Norman from Malco Tools to discuss the importance of investing in quality tools for contractors focused on roofing, siding and gutter installation.

Central to the conversation is the discussion of metal benders — portable tools that allow contractors to create custom bends on-site, eliminating the need for prefabricated trim from metal shops. This capability not only enhances efficiency but also enables the installation of longer, seamless trim pieces, giving contractors a competitive edge. Shane shares, “The work of your employees is going to speak volumes of your company.”

Shane highlightes the differences in the various bender models available through the brand, he details different types of benders available. Single station benders are designed for 90-degree bends, featuring a single bending wheel for precise adjustments. In contrast, dual station benders provide increased rigidity and speed, thanks to the two wheels, allowing for faster production on-site.

He also notes the benefits of disc benders, which are crucial for making bends up to 180 degrees, essential for more complex installations. These benders come in various sizes, catering to specific field requirements, from six-inch to 14-inch bending depths.

Malco boasts an impressive product catalog of useful and innovative tools that aid in a variety of tasks, such as power-assisted seamers that streamline on-site panel seaming without cumbersome rental equipment. The discussion extends to turbo shears, designed for clean cuts on various materials, further simplifying the contractor's workflow.

Malco has resources available on their YouTube channel to help contractors maximize the use of their tools. As Shane shares, “At the end of the day, you don't want to cut corners on your installs and you don't want to cut corners on the tools that you use either for those installs. So, they kind of go hand in hand.” He encourages listeners to explore the range of products on Malco’s website where they can find detailed information on metal benders and other tools.
