The Easy and Affordable Option for Slope Tapering

General Coatings Easy and Affordable Slope Tapering
June 18, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Spray foam offers many advantages to contractors who work with commercial buildings.

Contractors are drawn to spray foam roofing systems due to their financial and low-maintenance benefits, their great  insulative properties, resistance to high winds, hail protection and their ability to be easily recoated to extend the lifecycle of a roof.

However, the inception of spray foam was met with hesitation from the conventional roofing market, which originally saw the product as soft or easily damaged. General Coatings Manufacturing Corp. and their series of how-to videos aims to not only help contractors utilize spray foam as a simple application method for their roofing projects, but to also change the industry’s perspective on the product.

This group of short, step-by-step instructional videos feature applications of spray-foam to a variety of roof drains, penetrations, decks, systems, slopes and terminations. In their fifth collection of videos, General Coatings demonstrates two application methods for applying spray foam to slopes. These videos, which last less than one minute each, include helpful animated visuals detailing important spray-foam steps to help you complete your spray foam job right the first time.

The spray foam slope videos include:

  • Low point repair and retrofit

  • Roof slope installation

Watch the videos to see how General Coatings tapers a slope towards drains with spray foam. You will also see how spray foam can be used to prevent pooling on the roof’s surface and how many passes of spray foam are suggested for the best results.

Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) roofing systems offer great insulation and protection at an affordable price. Contractors can utilize this product to provide long-term durability to a customer’s roof with little maintenance.

Watch all their spray foam videos and see for yourself what spray foam can provide to your roofing projects.
