Support Higher Education and the Construction Industry

WSRCA Support Higher Education
November 6, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Giving to the Davis Memorial Foundation ensures the future success of the industry by empowering young people to pursue meaningful careers in roofing.

The Davis Memorial Foundation and the Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA) are committed to promoting professionalism in the roofing industry. The Davis Memorial Foundation is a joint effort from those within WSRCA that strives to support higher education and the future of the industry by providing scholarships to worthy applicants.

Currently, the Foundation is asking for donations to help reach their 2021 goal of awarding $50,000 in scholarships. This money will be awarded to 10 students, each receiving $5,000. This year, the Foundation added a new feature to the donation process, allowing you to “NAME YOUR” scholarship by putting your name, a loved one’s name, your company’s name or perhaps the name of your community on the scholarship itself. This is an excellent way to honor those around you and support young people looking to pursue a career in roofing or construction.

Learn more about how you can make a difference in your community by placing YOUR NAME on a scholarship here.

The Davis Memorial Foundation also provides you the opportunity to join the Partners for the Future program which allows you to make regular tax-deductible donations to the Davis Memorial Foundation. Everyone is encouraged to give, regardless of how much you can contribute. The foundation ensures that every penny makes a difference as your generous contributions will help supply scholarships to students striving to take part in the roofing industry.

Additionally, by joining the Partners for the Future program, your company name will be listed on the Davis Memorial Foundation website and it will be seen on signage throughout the Western Roofing Expo being held at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in June 2021. Your company name will also be mentioned during the Davis Memorial Foundation welcome event and auction that will take place during the WSRCA convention on Sunday, June 27.

The foundation was created in honor of Larry and Mary Davis who died tragically in a plane crash in 1995. Both Larry and Mary embodied the spirit of the roofing industry community and believed that the continuous introduction of well-educated members into the roofing industry is key to its future success. By donating to the Davis Memorial Foundation, you are contributing to the future of the industry and empowering the young people who will soon be a part of it.

Students who are looking to attend a trade school, or receive a university degree in construction or a related field, are encouraged to apply to the Davis Memorial Foundation and can do so here.
