With climate conditions currently changing and becoming increasingly extreme, it’s becoming more difficult to stay on top of waterproofing maintenance. MFM Building Product’s SubSeal-40 is a self-adhering waterproofing membrane that protects buildings and homes from extreme weather.
Unlike other materials, SubSeal-40 is, “A uniform thickness of rubberized adhesive asphalt laminated to a multiple layer of puncture-resistant, reinforced polyethylene providing an exceptional combination of strength and flexibility.” Due to the material used to create this unique layer, SubSeal-40 offers protection and endurance. Because it’s long lasting, the membrane won’t crack or dry out.
SubSeal-40 adheres well to dry, clean layers including metals, wood and vinyl. It was designed to be multipurpose so it could be used for “sealing foundation walls, exterior walls, through-wall flashings, around doors and windows, underneath stucco, plaster and masonry, planters, pot shelves and as a flashing material.” It would be easier to list what it shouldn’t be used for.
This unbelievable product is self-sealing around nails, screws and other types of fasteners. Because of this, it locks out water that would otherwise penetrate or wear against spray-on products.
The waterproof adhesive even has a wide temperature range which allows contractors to install it in cold or hot weather. It is also very easy to shape as it can be cut with a sharp utility knife, granting flexibility to uneven applications.
This is one of the simplest installations that MFM Building Products offers but it’s also one of the best resources available.
