Stormseal named finalist in leading technology competition

Stormseal finalist in leading technology competition
October 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.

The company is a finalist in the competition that aims to identify and accelerate technology ‘scaleups’ with the greatest global potential.

Stormseal has been named a finalist in the Australian Technologies Competition (ATC) for its innovative storm protection system following extreme weather events.

“We are in great company with 17 other finalist technology companies spanning across ten industries,” said Managing Director and Stormseal inventor Matt Lennox.

“Our invention super seals buildings and roofs damaged by storms or left open during construction and aids extreme weather victims, their insurers and contractors following such events. It was also supported by a $452,162 federal government commercialization grant back in 2016."

“Since then, this grant has allowed us to market our product, help people in Australia, and around the world, protect their homes from further damage following storms."

“The recognition provided by the ATC is a great forward step on our road to success and allows us to continue to help vulnerable people devastated by extreme weather events,” said Matt.

The Australian Technologies Competition aims to identify and accelerate Australian technology ‘scaleups’ with the greatest global potential.

It’s supported by the Department of Industry, Innovation & Science, the Industry Growth Centres and Industry partners. This year will see the Competition into its ninth year. During this period, it has created an alumni pool of over 200 semi-finalists and finalists, many of whom have had significant international success.

The Competition brings experienced entrepreneurs, business builders, angel investors, venture capital funds, commercialization experts, leading corporate and government representatives together with founders, in a collaborative coaching environment. It has a strong focus on equipping founders with the skills and contacts to develop and manage high growth companies in challenging international markets.

“ATC has 10 awards up for grabs and Stormseal is hoping it will be successful, but even it it’s not, we are still proud of this recognition as it followed a rigorous assessment process that was scrutinized by an independent panel of judges,” said Matt.

33 semi-finalist companies were whittled down to the 17 finalists, who will compete at this year’s National Finals being held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 29, 2019.

“We also give best wishes to those that got this far, as they are all excellent companies. It’s going to be a tough competition,” concluded Matt.
