StormStopper FSU helps prevent water from penetrating roofs, keeping them safe and durable.

StormStopper FSU™ (Film Surface Underlayment) by MFM Building Products Corp. is a steep-slope roofing underlayment. Whether you're installing a new roof or reroofing a home, this self-adhering underlayment and waterproofing membrane is designed to serve as a secondary water resistance layer underneath your shingles.

This underlayment is a game-changer for keeping a house dry, especially in tricky spots like the edges of the roof or around the chimney where leaks love to happen. It's designed to fight off water from ice dams, heavy snow and excess rain during thunderstorms. Because of its design, “The film is laminated to a specialized rubberized asphalt adhesive that adheres when surface and air temperatures are 40°F or higher,” according to MFM. StormStopper FSU really clings to the roof and seals up tight around securements such as nails, stopping water from penetrating below the surface.

Some additional features of StormStopper FSU include a built-in traction layer, making it less risky for roofers to be on during the installation process. It can also sit exposed for up to 30 days if the project gets delayed for any reason.

With a nominal thickness of 45 mils, it a solid barrier against water. In order to be installed, the roof must have a minimum slope of 2 inches per foot. Since StormStopper FSU has an easy to remove split-release liner, installation can be completed quicker because it easier to handle and lay down. It even works well in tricky areas like roof valleys.

This underlayment comes with a five-year warranty, reassuring homeowners with peace of mind that their home is well protected. StormStopper FSU has passed various building code and product standards, and is accepted as a quality material by the Florida Building Code, Texas Department of Insurance, and is listed with the Fortified® Building Program.

The StormStopper FSU is designed to protect roofs and prevent damage caused by water penetration, keeping houses safe should the main roof be compromised.
