President of RoofersCoffeeShop® Heidi J. Ellsworth and Melissa Dunson, marketing director for TAMKO Building Products LLC, share insights and what they are seeing every day on RoofersCoffeeShop and through TAMKO in a new webinar. From material and labor shortages to new product and technology trends, these two discuss the state of the industry across the country and all sectors of the roofing industry so that you can plan for a strong 2023.
“We are talking to people, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, every single day. And so we wanted to pull information that we're hearing from them,” says Heidi. “What we want to bring as much value and information to all of you as possible.”
Heidi kicks off the conversation by talking about growth, specifically economic growth. The economy has been quite the rollercoaster this year, the U.S. economy has contracted and grown and there have been rumors of a recession while many contractors are still working their way through a backlog of work.
“Economists are having a really hard time trying to figure out what's going to happen, where things are going,” says Heidi. “They're seeing growth, and as many of you know, there is a huge demand out there in roofing. Melissa, you're seeing this, you're seeing the contractors, they're not stopping.”
Melissa notes that the industry is at an interesting impasse, where national signals about the economy don’t always line up with the actual experiences of contractors on the ground. “There is still new construction and everybody knows the economy is circular, housing markets are circular, it will bounce back,” says Melissa. “I really want contractors to focus on the idea of not having all of your eggs in one basket and being able to diversify.”
Watch the webinar for more insights on trends within the industry and how you can capitalize on them in the upcoming year.
