Green roof systems are extensions of the existing roof, involving high-quality waterproofing, root repellent system, drainage system, filter cloth, a lightweight growing medium and plants.
Chris Maxwell, a district sales manager for SOPREMA, Inc. and Performance Roof Systems, Inc. in Northern, Central and Southeast Ohio; Western and Central Penn.; and West Virginia, will deliver a live webinar for AEC Daily at its AEC Virtual Education Symposium – Summer 2022 about what’s necessary for designing and integrating successful green roofing projects. Join him and others for this two-day learning symposium Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 8, from the comfort of your home or office to hear “Green Roofs: Integrating Blue and Gray into Green.”
The webinar on green roofs will review different green roof systems and components and their use in meeting project goals relating to stormwater management, integration with hardscape and constructability.
Attendees can earn one (1) AIA LU/HSW credit for joining the SOPREMA session and up to six (6) for participating in the two-day event.
In the green roofs webinar, participants will learn to:
Describe the components which make up green roof systems, the range of options for each component type, and their benefits and drawbacks.
Employ strategies for integrating planting beds with adjacent hardscapes to maximize water detention and retention in green roofs.
Identify several types of green roof systems and the advantages and disadvantages of these systems regarding site conditions and project goals.
Explore structural, drainage and waterproofing considerations at transitions between planted and paved areas.
