AMERICAN GLOBAL LLC Announces Shelly Duhaime as Vice President, Captive Practice Leader

Shelly brings with her extensive risk experience in a multitude of roles.

Shelly Duhaime joins the American Global Team as Vice President, Captive Practice Leader to cultivate and develop corporate expansion initiatives in captive insurance. She will be based in our Cedar Knolls, NJ office serving as a national resource for the company.

She has a diverse background as a construction risk management and brokerage professional and is an industry leading captive insurance expert,” said Kevin Walsh, President of American Global of New Jersey LLC. “With the complexity of today’s market, it’s more important than ever that we continue to provide our customers with innovative solutions that allow them to be more competitive.”

Shelly has managed the risk of over 75 Contractors nationwide. She has spent the last 18 years working closely with upper level management for some of the largest contractors in the country, guiding instrumental cultural changes for her clients, which led to overall improved risk performance, specifically reductions in claims per man hours worked. She is also the architect behind two of the country’s most successful Construction Industry Captive Programs, both ground up projects.

While managing these insurance program Shelly’s responsibilities included the design of critical best practices, underwriting standards, educational seminars, establishment of accountability practices and execution of individual company training. Shelly has worked closely with claim advocates, implementing innovative protocols for managing claim-maximizing recovery, loss strategies and aggressively monitoring action plans to closure for her contractors. She has construction industry specific claim experience on both the East and West Coasts. Over the years, she has built her own panel of experts, specifically supporting construction industry issues.

Shelly is an active member of multiple industry associations and has conducted numerous insurance industry seminars specific to construction risk. She currently serves on the Board of National Women in Roofing (NWIR) as the Chairperson of the Education Committee.
