By Johns Manville.
Everyone at Johns Manville is proud to announce our recent recertification as a STAR Worksite. Our plant in Lewiston, Maine, received this award issued under the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
It was our enthusiastic and engaged workers, our current and robust safety programs and policies and our overall exemplary facility that caught the OSHA auditor's eye. They recognized JM’s commitment to upward improvement and the plant’s long-term dedication to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
The plant in Lewiston manufactures a full line of specialty roofing products to support SBS and APP modified bitumen and EPDM, PVC and TPO single ply membrane systems. This selection includes expansion joint covers, retrofit drains and tie-in flashing systems. The facility earned its first VPP STAR recognition in 2012 and was recertified in 2015.
Eleven other JM facilities have earned VPP STAR recognition from their respective states. The plants are in Tucson, Arizona; Macon, Georgia; Willows, California; Jacksonville, Florida; Richland, Mississippi; Fernley, Nevada; Richmond, Virginia; McPherson, Kansas; Scottsboro, Alabama; Belgrade, Montana; and Plattsburgh, New York.
As part of the recognition for achieving STAR status under VPP, facilities can fly the VPP “STAR Worksite” flag. VPP includes two levels of participation, Merit and STAR, with STAR being the highest.
