At Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. (WTI) they always put safety first and that goes right down to the shoes. Employees at WTI get new safety boots each year. With more than 500 employees in the field coordinating that effort is no small “feat.”
Enter Brittany Randall. She manages the program that rolled out last year in support of the company’s “Lead with Safety” focus. They explored various options for the program and ended up creating a partnership with another company leading the industry in improving company operations. WTI was able to create a custom catalog of safety shoes that is online, allowing employees to purchase any time of day. It even includes free shipping and returns.
“I was so excited to be a part of this program, the quality and selection that our technicians have to choose from, I think is top notch,” said Brittany. “This year we have given them even more of a selection which I think is truly amazing and they can shop from the comfort of their own home.”
Brittany said she hopes the technicians in the field that they are valued. “They are out there working really hard for us and in return we are able to offer them quality work boots through our partnership with Grainger that they might not be able to get somewhere else.”
The boot program consists of a custom catalog of work boots that were hand picked by the company safety team. Brittany’s role is to manage the program, making sure that every technician is in the system and that their shoe stipend is loaded to their accounts. She answers questions, provides assistance when needed and makes sure everything is paid for.
Brittany explained what makes the program worthwhile for her saying, “I am honored to be a part of this initiative because I feel like it's an amazing way to give back to the technicians who work so hard and in so many unfavorable conditions. They absolutely deserve the best work boots and WTI is helping provide those boots. When a tech calls me after the receive their boots in the mail or after they've worn them for a few days and tells me how amazing they are or how comfortable they are I love hearing those stories. It seems like a small thing but even knowing they took the time to call me and tell me they had a great experience makes it all worthwhile.”
Like the other Tremco/WTI employees that we’ve talked to, Brittany loves her job. She says that everyone shared the same mission which creates a family environment and she loves that the company supports a healthy work-life balance. “I work full-time on a flexible schedule from home, and my boss trusts me to produce high-quality work and results. I work hard to maintain that level of trust, which keeps me engaged and excited.”
