In the 1950s, the post-war nation was building its future and Deryl Yundt was working as the manager of the Pacific coast region for Aeroil Products Company. He met with contractors every day who were looking for him to provide additional products beyond the equipment he was selling for Aeroil. His employer lacked vision to distribute tools and products outside of what they manufactured and Yundt decided this was his opportunity to help his customers succeed by connecting them with labor-saving equipment and innovative products.
Yundt gathered the financial backing of some local roofing contractors and founded Roofmaster Products Company in 1952. He hired his first employee, Cornie, who received and delivered orders while Yundt focused on learning from contractors what challenges they were facing on the jobsite so he could develop solutions to overcome those challenges. From that research the first Mopmaster and Rotomaster were developed. The Mopmaster was a 10-gallon half drum on wheels with a handle and both were used to apply hot asphalt to sheet.
The company has seen a lot of changes in the roofing industry throughout the last 65 years and prides itself on remaining a dedicated leader to the commercial, residential and technical product aspects of roofing. In his 49 years, CEO Jimmy Yundt has grown Roofmaster into one of the largest manufacturer and wholesale distributor of quality commercial roofing equipment, tools, accessories and related supplies in the U.S.
Roofmaster has remained in the family with the third generation continuing the dedication to quality, innovation and customer service that the business was founded on. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without our valued customers, vendors and employees for their belief and trust in us to deliver the tools and solutions that are of the highest quality and efficiency,” said James Yundt, Vice President, Roofmaster Products Company. “We thank you and look forward to continuing our relationships for years to come.”
