The roofing industry is dedicated to giving back to others. These charitable acts include: providing new roofs and repairs to low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners, donating labor and materials to families with storm damaged roofs, inspecting and maintaining Ronald McDonald House roofs, connecting service men and women with career opportunities in construction, and much more. They also support and give back to young people.
There’s a great need for young people to join the roofing industry. While there are many opportunities for them to further their education, paying for it can be daunting at times. However, scholarships are a great way to help get them started and support them on their journey.
The industry cares and RoofersCoffeeShop® (RCS) cares. RCS wants to make it easier for people to find and access scholarship information, and have created a page dedicated to scholarships available in the industry. While deadlines and requirements vary, all of the information is in one convenient location including background information and details about the scholarships, due dates, contact information, and links to the scholarships themselves. Over 25 opportunities are available for young people to earn scholarship money and further their education.
There are scholarships for everyone whether you decide to attend college, university, community college, technical or trade school, or enroll online. Some scholarships apply for full-time or even part-time basis, so students can work while going to school.
Young people can benefit from their family’s membership with different roofing organizations such as the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). Employees of NRCA contractor and supplier members are eligible to apply for the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program. Presented by the Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress, this merit-based scholarship is awarded to employees and their families who intend to continue their education in college or a vocational program to pursue a career in the roofing or building construction industries. Possible majors include: architecture, business management, civil, mechanical or structural engineering, and construction management. And it’s the students choice as to where they attend, as long as it’s an accredited post-secondary institution.
This is only one of over 25 opportunities for young people to further their education and to help them get involved in the roofing industry. The RCS scholarship page is yet another resource they provide to the roofing community.
Forward and share this scholarship page with high schools and vocational schools.
