Roofing Alliance issues annual call for funding

Roofing Alliance issues annual call for funding
October 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.

Each year, the Roofing Alliance supports innovative projects from industry partners, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations and research firms.

The Roofing Alliance invites applications for its 2025 Call for Funding, aimed at advancing the roofing industry through research, education and technical initiatives. The deadline for submissions is January 1, 2025.

Each year, the Roofing Alliance supports innovative projects from industry partners, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations and research firms. Funding focuses on initiatives that address industry challenges, promote future growth and advance knowledge in key areas, including education and training, technology, sustainability and philanthropy.

Funding proposals should align with the Roofing Alliance’s mission and support one of the two safety-focused RFPs provided on the Roofing Alliance website. Proposals should refrain from using any proprietary products, services or materials or advocating an industry position or segment and instead contribute to the betterment of the U.S. roofing industry.

"We are dedicated to funding initiatives that address critical research gaps and drive meaningful progress in the roofing industry," says Alison L. LaValley, CAE, executive director of the Roofing Alliance. "While we value projects aligned with our core pillars — education, technology, sustainability and philanthropy — this year, we are placing particular emphasis on advancing safety within the industry."

Funding application process

Step 1: Letter of inquiry
Submit a brief overview of the proposed project, including information about the applicant. If the project aligns with the Roofing Alliance’s vision and mission, you may be invited to submit a full proposal.

  • Vision: Shape the roofing industry’s future by protecting communities and fostering innovation.
  • Mission: Advance the roofing industry through education, technology, sustainability and philanthropy.

Step 2: Written proposal
Invited proposals should include:

  • A detailed project description, objectives and expected outcomes.
  • A plan to promote the finished project and potential revenue-sharing opportunities (if applicable).
  • An explanation of the project’s value to the Roofing Alliance and justification for funding.
  • A detailed budget, timeline and supporting documentation.

Step 3: Board Review
The Roofing Alliance staff conducts an initial screening, followed by a full review by the board of trustees. Key details:

  • The board will meet in early 2025 to review proposals and make funding decisions.
  • Applicants may be invited to present their project during a board meeting.
  • Some projects may not align with program priorities or the annual budget.
  • Upon project completion, a final report must be submitted to the Roofing Alliance.
