You’ve heard it from sales people for years. Composite slate and shake roofing has the edge in the marketplace. Realistic-looking, low-maintenance, long-lasting. This is the product that homeowners appreciate and are willing to invest in for their future. They’re correct, but isn’t it their job to say that?
Yes, it is. Just as it’s your job to be open to changes and improvements. That’s why today we’re digging deep and finding out what other roofers are saying about composite roofing materials.
In Gonzales, Louisiana, Matt Greenwich recently transformed an asphalt roof into a showpiece home using Province™ Slate tile. The 12-inch wide single-width composite roofing tile has a fixed 8-inch exposure. The tile’s resistance to insects, algae growth and mold played a big role in his product recommendation to the homeowner.
“Being from this area, I knew the Province Slate would give the vintage slate look to this renovated home project,” says Greenwich. “Our area has a great deal of French Colonial and Creole style. This type of slate roofing complements this old architectural style, even in modernly developed homes.
“What’s important about the DaVinci product is that it’s very durable while being lightweight. The homeowners can have the slate look they dream of without having to restructure their home to handle the weight of real slate.”
In Wisconsin, Anthony Walsh with DuraShield deals with many roof replacements resulting from hail damage. His company recommends DaVinci synthetic shake and slate roofing products.
“There’s tremendous value in a DaVinci roof,” explains Walsh. “It has a Class 4 impact rating, so hail literally bounces off it. There’s a Class A fire rating. Plus, there’s a Lifetime Limited Material Warranty and incredibly low maintenance. And, insurance companies usually drop homeowner’s rates when they find out a house has DaVinci roofing overhead.
“When we do reroofing jobs with these composite roofs, they’re literally the envy of the neighborhood.”
If you really want to understand the benefits of recommending composite roofing to your customers, talk with Daniel Askari. General Manager with Absolute Construction in Garland, Texas, Askari has installed hundreds of DaVinci roofs over the years. He’s seen them withstand both normal Texas weather and severe storms.
For one recent project where a fiber cement roof was starting to fail, the customers asked Askari what he recommended.
“The homeowners wanted a high performing roof, that would have a long lifespan and outstanding aesthetics,” says Askari. “In addition, they wanted minimal maintenance so they could enjoy their lakefront home. The answer was clearly DaVinci.”
During the product option review, the homeowners chose Askari’s favorite DaVinci product, the DaVinci Multi-Width Slate in a Slate Black color. “This profile reflects nothing less than pure craftsmanship,” says Askari. “The aesthetics are outstanding.
“The bottom line is that composite roofing offers long-term performance and protection against hail, fire and high winds. This gives homeowners peace-of-mind. You can be the roofer that provides them with that support.”
