In northern Illinois there is an 18-hole championship golf course called Bull Valley Golf Club. While it used to be the talk of the community, over time, regular wear and tear meant it was in dire need of a new look. Enter DaVinci Roofscapes. Their synthetic slate roofing, along with a new coat of paint helped get this clubhouse back on top!
Located in Woodstock, Illinois, Bull Valley Golf Club offers many amenities. Outstanding golfing and tournaments. Fine dining in rustic elegance. The ideal location for weddings and special events. However, over the years, the exterior of the clubhouse didn’t match up to the high standards of its setting.
“After 32 years, the cedar shakes on the roof were old and deteriorating,” says Brad Hisel, general manager of the 37,000-square-foot clubhouse at Bull Valley Golf Club. “They needed annual upkeep. Even with that, there were leaks in some areas. Ultimately there was storm damage that made it necessary to replace the roof.”
The need for a new roof also brought the opportunity for change. “Our roofer introduced us to DaVinci Roofscapes composite products,” says Hisel. “We embraced the idea to switch to a synthetic slate roof to give the clubhouse a timeless look. The selection of the European color palette gave the building a true slate appearance. We couldn’t be happier with the results.”
According to roofer James Gorman, the owners wanted a “real” slate look for the roof … and they were more than pleased with the DaVinci roofing option.
“We’ve installed DaVinci products for about five years, so we know how popular they are with people in our area,” says Gorman, project manager and owner of Green Renovations in Arlington Heights, Illinois. “The DaVinci slate chosen for this clubhouse has a very authentic appearance. Even better than that, it’s Class A fire and Class 4 impact resistant, so the owners will have peace of mind in the future.”
This synthetic slate clubhouse roof modernized the building and improved the overall aesthetics at Bull Valley Golf Club. Installation of the roof took the Green Renovations team about six weeks to complete. They worked through the logistics of installing the roofing materials while the clubhouse business still took place — including weddings, events and day-to-day general traffic.
“Green Renovations were very easy to work with,” says Hisel. “They went above and beyond even as they ran into unforeseen issues. If we had to do this all over again, I’d absolutely use them. I feel so strongly about their high quality of workmanship that I’m recommending them to members in the area.”
With the new roof installed, the building was painted and trim was repaired. The exterior of Bull Valley Golf Club’s clubhouse has a new elite status on the golf course grounds.
“This roof turned out fantastic!” according to Gorman. “Without question it’s the largest DaVinci project we’ve ever completed. The slate gives the building a much more modern look. New, fresh and clean. Something the members can feel good when they see it each day.”
Hisel agrees. “The new synthetic slate roof has made the clubhouse a center point in our community,” says Hisel. “We’re thrilled with the true slate look. In addition, the 50-year material warranty from DaVinci is a feature that we truly value. This is a win-win for everyone.”
