When Dale Nelson of Roof Hugger started his business, he had one idea in mind: To create a product that would allow a new metal roof to be installed over an existing metal roof. They have done just that, as their products can fit over any existing rib spacing imaginable. It doesn’t matter how complicated the project, Roof Hugger sub-purlins allow their systems to match virtually any existing metal roof profile/configuration, regardless of whether thru fastened or standing seam.
Here are three most common projects that Roof Hugger works on:
“R” panel over “R” panel - The most common existing panel on metal buildings that are older are the 12’’ “R” panels. These panels will fit on most “R” panel roofs and are a product that Roof Hugger mass produces. The product is ready for immediate shipment
Standing seam over “R” panel - A very common installation project is a new standing seam panel roof installed over an old screw-down roof system. This is an upgrade to the screw-down system as it eliminates problems that are inherent with the thru-fastened panels. By keeping the existing roof, modifications to the purlin system to accommodate a new standing seam roof are not necessary.
Standing seam over standing seam - Another popular installation is putting a standing seam over another standing seam. Roof Hugger can create a sub-purlin to fit any standing seam profile, making retrofitting these roofs quick and simple. The rib spacings range from 12” to 30.”
Roof Hugger is also committed to making sustainable and green choices. They have educated themselves in energy-saving assemblies and thermal conductivity, thermal breaks, thermal emissivity, thermal reflectivity, solar heat collection and solar power generation.
