By Jesse Sanchez.

Discover how this innovative product revolutionizes hurricane-ready roofing.

In a recent episode of the Roofing Road Trips® podcast, hosted by Karen Edwards, Morgan Cathey discussed the essential topic of hurricane preparedness in the roofing industry. Morgan, who brings a wealth of experience from his role in the industry, shared invaluable insights on ensuring roofs are storm-ready, while focusing on the innovative READYSLATE product.

During the discussion, Morgan touched on the unique advantages of READYSLATE, a product designed to withstand the harshest weather conditions. "From our testing, we think a lot of the stuff that we recommend with the products, such as using stainless steel or copper nails with the installation, is going to outlast the hot dip nails that are out there," Morgan explained. He highlighted that READYSLATE could be a "50-year plus roof," demonstrating its durability and long-term value.

READYSLATE is particularly impressive in high-wind and hurricane-prone areas. Morgan shared insights from their rigorous testing process, revealing that minimal adjustments were needed to meet the stringent requirements of hurricane zones like those in Florida. " The nails are the only thing NOT the same," Morgan noted, adding that the main difference in hurricane zones is the use of ring shank nails instead of smooth shank nails.

Morgan noted that the product does not require specialized accessories, which simplifies the installation process for contractors. "You can pick stuff up off the shelf at your local roofing supplier for vents, for underlayment, mostly for nails," he said. This flexibility not only reduces costs but also makes it easier for contractors to offer competitive pricing to homeowners.

Morgan also assured listeners that the company offers no-cost assistance and training for roofing crews. "There's no gotcha moments that you're going to get in the middle of this installation and scratch your head and not be prepared for it," he said, highlighting the product's user-friendly design.
