Latest trends survey shows contractors’ use of technology, preferred methods of communication and what sources they trust to deliver new product and industry information.

Think contractors aren’t using technology on a regular basis? Think again. RoofersCoffeeShop.com’s recent technology trends survey has just been released and it paints a picture that shows roofing contractors are adopting technology faster than one might think.

As the industry leader in introducing roofing contractors to new technologies and cloud-based solutions, RoofersCoffeeShop.com is committed to identifying what technologies contractors are using and how they are using it in their personal and professional lives.

Contractors were surveyed to find out the answers to what sources they rely on for industry news, new product information and technical information; how they use social media and mobile devices; if they attend tradeshows and whether or not they belong to industry associations.

While many contractors still prefer face-to-face and print communications for new product and technical information, the numbers indicate that a growing number are turning to digital formats. Nearly 80 percent of contractor using mobile devices for accessing information are doing it on a smart phone. About the same percentage indicated that email is their preferred method of communication.

More than half of survey respondents are active in their local, regional and national associations which means that almost half are not. Some of the reasons contractors said they are not involved is cost, they feel it doesn’t fit their business model, and a bit surprising was that they said they have never been asked to join.

The survey was conducted during the third quarter of 2016, with responses accepted from August 30 through October 7. Contractors from 43 states responded and represented businesses ranging in size from less than 10 employees to more than 200. The survey will be repeated quarterly to follow trends and track changes in behavior for using technology.

A copy of the complete third quarter trends report can be downloaded here.
