You know the saying, “the early bird catches the worm.” Well, when signing up for the Western Roofing Expo 2020, early birds will catch 10% off! If you register between now and February 29, you’ll automatically receive a 10% discount on Full Packages. WRE will take place June 7-9, 2020 in Paris Las Vegas, Nevada.
Presented by the Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA), the expo focuses on the specific needs of roofing and waterproofing contractors in the western region of the United States. Known as “the largest regional roofing expo presented by roofing and waterproofing contractors for the roofing industry,” WRE offers opportunities for roofing professionals to discover cost-saving resources, make connections, and learn about the best industry practices. Not only are there two full days of the trade show, but there are numerous networking opportunities, special events, and live demonstrations every hour.
Two events will get you outside, provide networking opportunities, and all proceeds will go to a great cause. Join fellow roofing professionals and participate in the 21-station sporting clays course. The Pro Gun Club is offering this opportunity for master class shooters and beginner shooters to enjoy a day busting clays. The course provides a scenic setting, overlooking the El Dorado Valley and Boulder City. If sporting clays aren’t for you, enjoy a day of golf at the Revere Golf Club. Positioned in the desert canyons and valleys of the Las Vegas foothills, players will have views of the Las Vegas skyline and mountains beyond. The WRE group will play the Lexington Course, which is a 7,143 yard, par-72 layout. Proceeds from both of these events will go to the Davis Memorial Foundation’s Scholarship Fund.
Since 1997, the Davis Memorial Foundation has been supporting students aspiring to attend undergraduate, graduate, technical, or vocational trade schools. This foundation was established in memory of Larry and Mary Davis, who perished in an airplane accident on their way home from a WSRCA board meeting. The Foundation’s mission is to support higher education, particularly as it relates to the development of a well-educated construction industry. To date, the Foundation has awarded over 125 scholarships totaling more than $525,000.
The Roofing Games™ are an exciting event that showcase roofers’ knowledge and skill sets pertaining to different equipment, materials, and processes in the roofing industry. Roofers will compete against one another to install a Malarkey Roofing Product roofing system on a small deck. They will also demonstrate their skills at steep-slope nailing. Roofers will be judged on accuracy, aesthetics, speed and workmanship
Other special events include the WRE Welcome Event and Auction, sponsored by GAF. Auction items include vacations, jewelry, roofing materials, electronics, golf clubs, sports memorabilia, and more. Proceeds from the auction will also go to the Davis Memorial Foundations Scholarship Fund. The legislative luncheon will be a lively event with keynote speaker Craig Brightup, from the Brightup Group LLC. Craig will share his views and inside information concerning the roofing and waterproofing industry.
With 24 educational seminars, there are opportunities for everyone attending to learn something that will benefit their business. Topics will include: simplifying OSHA requirements for rooftop fall protection, review of code changes from 2000-2018/21, top 10 employment law mistakes made by contractors and how to avoid them, walkable roof deck membranes, and business succession planning, among others.
Speaker Ryan Groth from the Sales Transformation Group will share his knowledge on, “To Bid, Or Not to Bid: That is the Question.” Trent Cotney, from Cotney Construction Law, will present four times throughout the expo. Topics include: OSHA inspection and citation process, construction contract provisions, top five employment issues in roofing, and avoiding legal pitfalls when scaling your company. The educational chair for National Women in Roofing (NWIR), Jennifer Keegan, will speak on, “How to Get Women on the Roof— Successful Strategies and Case Studies.”
Our own Heidi J. Ellsworth from HJE Consulting, along with Alison LaValley, Vice President of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), will present “Roofing, Labor Shortage, and Embracing Diversity, Technology, and the Next Generation.” Both women are active with roofing initiatives through the NRCA Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Roofing Alliance, NWIR, and Roofing Technology Think Tank (RT3). They will share how industry organizations are taking steps to solve the labor shortage in roofing with diversity, technology, and research initiatives. You won’t want to miss Heidi and Alison explaining how these trends are promoting professionalism and inclusion, thus attracting and retaining talented workforce.
