In the ever-changing industry of residential and commercial roofing, training is an increasingly valuable asset to invest in as a roofing contractor. With so many various materials, systems, products, equipment, etc., roofing companies need employees with a solid educational backing to ensure the success of their business.

American WeatherStar has been providing hands-on, in-person training courses known as FAST—Fluid-Applied System Techniques—for a few years now. Given the current state of things, we’ve reworked our FAST courses in order to offer them remotely. With Lunch & Learn Presentations, American WeatherStar Field Representatives can bring the learning to you. These presentations—abridged versions of our FAST presentation—give commercial roofing professionals an opportunity to select and discuss specific topics related to the roof restoration industry.

Currently, we have six courses available:

• Intro to Roof Coatings

  •  Learn the very basics of fluid-applied roof restoration through industry terms, calculating dry film thickness, product chemistries and more.

• Approved Contractor Program

  • Learn more about the benefits, requirements, and resources provided through the American WeatherStar Approved Contractor Program.

• Flat Roof Restoration

  • Learn more about systems, estimating job costs, marketing materials and warranty information for flat roof restoration projects.

• Metal Roof Restoration

  • Learn more about systems, estimating job costs, marketing materials and warranty information for metal roof restoration projects.

• Technical Resources

  • Learn where to find and how to use important technical resources and documents provided by American WeatherStar

• Warranty Program

  • Learn more about the StarGard Warranty Program and StarGard+ Warranty Enhancements for all American WeatherStar roof restoration systems.

Contractors can go through the courses at their own pace or have an American WeatherStar Field Representative connect with them via phone or video chat while they navigate the presentation. We can also present these courses in-person at the contractor’s office.

Naturally, we hope to offer our in-person FAST training courses again soon, but we realize that it's not always easy for roofing contractors to leave their market for two to three days in order to complete training. Lunch & Learn Presentations are the perfect compromise, and we plan to continue offering them even after we return to hosting FAST.
