Harness & Heels Founder Named One of Forbes Next 1000

RCS Forbes Next 1000
January 29, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.

By Cass Jacoby, RCS reporter.

Forbes celebrates the remarkable growth of Kristina as a woman in roofing and business owner.

“Two years ago I wasn't even able to put up a ladder,” Kristina Hill tells RCS after winning the Answer Me This! Giveaway. “Now I've done well over 100 roof inspections.” But expertise is not all Kristina has to show for the past two years, she has recently been named one of Forbes Next 1000.

Kristina is the co-owner of Home Shield Roofing & Exteriors based in Lincoln, Nebraska, specializing in residential and commercial roofing. Kristina told Karen L. Edwards, RCS COO, in a recent interview that she had gotten into roofing after her husband had worked in the industry for about 20 years. The two started their own company about four years ago, “He was the full-time employee, and I was kind of working at my corporate job and just doing what I could when I could,” explained Kristina. “But we got to the point where we needed to hire somebody to be full-time, so I thought why the heck would that person not be me?”

Fast forward a couple of years and now she is being recognized by Forbes as a shining example in the industry. Forbes Next 1000 is a list of inspiring small business leaders who are redefining what it means to build and run a business throughout these unprecedented times. This installment of business owners serves as proof that American entrepreneurship remains resilient as ever.

“As we enter another pandemic year, entrepreneurs and small business owners are finding new ways to thrive amidst ever-uncertain circumstances,” says Maneet Ahuja, senior editor of Forbes. “The fourth and final class of Next 1000 entrepreneurial heroes is writing the playbook for not only achieving financial recovery but speeding past it.”

In addition to Kristina 's work with her own company, she has founded Harness & Heels — Women in Roofing, a Facebook group across the U.S. and Canada that supports, educates and empowers women in the industry. The group is now over 700 strong, ushering more women into the industry and continuing to build up the strong community of roofing.

RoofersCoffeeShop® congratulates Kristina and is proud to have such an exemplary roofer as part of our readership!
