RoofersCoffeeShop® presents a panel of roofing contractors sharing ideas, successes and challenges of finding and retaining a strong workforce. The panel will discuss important questions surrounding immigration, millennials, diversity and the overall strategies and obstacles to recruiting and retaining labor. Questions will include how these companies are dealing with changing immigration policies, how they work with local labor sources, recruiting the next generation for rooftop jobs and looking at new areas of labor savings techniques. RCS Contractor Influencers work in and own companies of all sizes and types including commercial and residential, from across the country.
The panel will be moderated by RCS partner Heidi Ellsworth and feature four of our Influencers: Charles Antis, Rudy Gutierrez, Martin Stout and Wendy Marvin. Learn more about them below:
Charles Antis – Founder/CEO of Antis Roofing & Waterproofing. Charles began his career as a roofing professional in 1984. Since then, he has become one of the most trusted names in the Southern California roofing industry, as well as an inspirational business leader championing social corporate responsibility. A well-respected and widely known roofing expert, entrepreneur and humanitarian, Charles is a board member of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). He is also a member of The Roofing Alliance for Progress and serves within the Roofing Technology Think Tank (RT3). Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors for Orange County Habitat for Humanity (Habitat OC), through which Antis Roofing & Waterproofing has donated every roof installation of every home built by Habitat OC since 2009. Charles also serves the following organizations, where his passion and experience as a local thought leader for corporate social responsibility inspires others into “doing well by doing good.”
Rudy Gutierrez – President & CEO, SHELL Roofing Solutions Group. Over the last twenty-five years Rudy Gutierrez has developed strategies for companies with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. His experience in single-ply membrane systems, geo-thermo plastic membranes and chemical liquid applied systems was instrumental in developing market share for Carlisle Construction Materials that today accounts for over $4 billion in annual material sales.
Martin Stout – President, Go Roof Tune Up, Inc. Mr. Stout is the President of Go Roof Tune Up, Inc. The company focuses primarily on; inspecting, reporting, repairing and warranting single family homes. Go Roof Tune Up is active in Southern and Northern California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Washington and Florida. He currently serves on the Technical Board for the Tile Roofing Institute.
Wendy Marvin - Co-Founder & CEO of Matrix Roofing. Wendy has been the business strategist since the company’s inception in 2007. Prior to Matrix, Wendy worked on the business side of the healthcare industry, yet always desired to run her own company. She is fervent in her desire to improve the Roofing Industry, and to serve her customers and the community. A Habitat for Humanity participant since 2009, Wendy recently signed Matrix up with the No Roof Left Behind program as a means to add to her company’s community involvement. Matrix will announce their first free roof in October of 2018, and plans to sponsor two free roofs in 2019, focusing specifically on the local Veterans who may be in need.
