Prepared for the storm

Polyglass Prepared for the storm
August 26, 2024 at 6:00 a.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

These roofing products promise security in the face of extreme weather conditions.

In a recent episode of the Roofing Road Trips® podcast, Polyglass representatives Marco Sieber and Elliott Wood shed light on how shifting weather patterns and the growing need for efficient roofing solutions are shaping the industry's future. The conversation centered around how Polyglass is addressing these challenges with innovative products designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and improve safety and productivity for roofing contractors.

The increasing frequency of severe weather events has prompted Polyglass to develop products that offer enhanced resistance to these forces. "We all see that there are a lot of crazy things going on as far as extreme heat, wildfires, hail, hurricane events," Marco said. "Polyglass has developed several products over the past few years that resist these forces and help folks in different parts of the country keep up with building code changes."

One of the standout innovations mentioned was the continued success of self-adhered membranes, a product category that has seen double-digit growth for over a decade. These products, including the recently launched Polyanchor HV Modifleece and Polystick XFR, cater to the industry's demand for safer, more efficient roofing solutions. Marco noted the benefits of self-adhered membranes, explaining their lower learning curve and increased safety compared to traditional roofing methods involving torches or hot asphalt.

Marco also spoke on the rigorous testing and code compliance processes that Polyglass products undergo to ensure they meet the latest building standards. "Sometimes over half of the launch process or product development process is just related to codes," he explained. This meticulous approach involves both in-house testing and third-party lab evaluations to verify the products' performance against fire, wind and other environmental stresses.
