Perfecting precision measurement for metal roofs

RoofSnap Perfecting precision measurement for metal roofs

By Dani Sheehan.

Introducing RoofSnap’s latest measurement solution, the fastest roof measurement provider in the market now offers metal roofing measurements!

RoofSnap, a roof measuring and estimating app created by an experienced roofer, has always aimed to fill the gaps in the roofing industry’s sales process by listening to customer feedback. Its latest innovation, a specialized solution for measuring and estimating metal roofs, evolved from this commitment. We recently had the opportunity to talk with Savannah Smith, senior customer success manager and onboarding specialist at RoofSnap about this new offering.

Savannah has been with the company for four years, and shared, “My favorite thing to do is to help people get started with the software, find out how their business works, talk with them about how we can improve and expedite their workflow, and then set up the software so that it works perfectly for them.”

The need for precision with metal

The decision to develop a metal-specific solution stemmed from developing better relationships with their customers. Savannah explained, “Working with new customers and onboarding, I hear a lot about what people want and what people need, and what we were hearing a lot is that ‘Hey, I install metal roofs. Do you have a metal-specific measuring solution?’ So, I spent a lot of time talking with a few customers to figure out what that process looks like for them.”

Metal roofing presents unique challenges. Unlike shingle roofs, which have more forgiving material, metal roofing requires precise measurements to avoid costly mistakes during installation. Metal panels are often pre-cut, meaning that any inaccuracies in measurements can result in panels that don’t fit properly, leading to delays, wasted materials and additional labor costs.

Traditional methods of measuring metal roofs are both time and labor-intensive. They often require roofers to climb onto the roof multiple times, increasing safety risks. Remote measurements are a safer, more efficient alternative, but they need to be exceptionally accurate – especially for metal roofing, where even a small error can have significant consequences.

How RoofSnap’s metal solution stands out

RoofSnap’s new metal-specific measurement solution is designed to address these challenges. Savannah emphasized the importance of both accuracy and precision, saying, “Accuracy is about the quality of the imagery we use, ensuring we capture the roof's dimensions correctly from the start. Precision, on the other hand, means taking those accurate measurements and making sure every detail is right when it counts — so when you receive your report, you can trust that it’s tailored to fit the exact specifications of the job.”

This solution offers one of the fastest turnaround times in the industry, delivering metal measurements within 24 hours and a free revision process if requested. With competitive pricing starting at just $40 a report, it’s also one of the most affordable solutions in the metal market. “We want to make it so that if you get a lead, you can be at that customer’s house within two days with a very good package put together that you’re confident in,” Savannah shared.

Supporting contractors beyond measurement

RoofSnap sets itself even further apart by not only providing accurate measurements but by supporting contractors throughout the entire sales process. Savannah highlighted the importance of backing their contractors to provide homeowners with the best possible experience. She said, “We want to provide our contractors the tools that they need to give a homeowner confidence that they’re making the right decision, that they’re getting the warranties they want, that they’re choosing the products that are going to last and look great for years to come.”
